Hey everyone! I just came back from an extended weekend getaway with my husband. We went to Kelly's Island and Put-n-Bay. What a relaxing time. The weather wasn't great but I still managed to get a sunburn. Great!
I still have a few weeks left before I have to be in the classroom "officially." I will probably go in next week for a few days to start setting up the room. It will take me a few days to bring everything from home that I have bought over the summer. In addition, I don't have a space at school to keep all my teaching supplies, so everything came home! Needless to say my basement is a mess! My husband will be so happy when we take everything back.
I continue to work on organizing and making fun new items for the classroom. I can't wait to show you what I have been up to when I get it all done. I did make a "Where are You?" sign like the ones of Pinterest to help me with seeing where everyone is during the day. What do you think?
Today I have been busy making a new math wall. I can't wait to hang it up to see if my vision will work. Have a good day.

A NEW beginning for a second grade teacher!
Hello everyone! Today is my first blog! I am very excited to this new adventure into blogging. I follow many teachers and I have learned so much. I truly appreciate all the work other teachers do.
I have been busy this summer reading and making new items for my classroom. I can't wait to share them with you and with my students.
I am going to start Daily 5 this year and I have been busy getting my book bins together (ice cube trays from Wal-Mart). I have also organized my books for the children to go shopping for their books. I am eager to start this because I know the children will benefit from the extra reading time and the one-on-one time with me. I truly loved reading the book by "the sister." I encourage anyone to read this book.
I am also going to start math stations during my math block. This will run just about the same way as the Daily 5. Needless to say, I have been very busy getting things organized.
Check back soon and I will have pictures of my classroom and let you know how the year is going.
